Churchill Hospital and Specialist Centre has reopened to facilitate urgent face-to-face consultations and prioritised elective surgery under Alert Level 3.
We have important measures in place to ensure the work we undertake can be done so safely for our staff, specialists and our patients.
Clinic consultations
- Where clinically appropriate, virtual consultations will continue to be considered as a first option.
- If you are asked to attend a face-to-face appointment, you will receive a phone call and asked a series of screening questions.
- If you wish to have a support person present during your consultation, we will also need to speak with them and ask screening questions. The support person must be from your bubble.
Surgical bookings
- Under Alert Level 3 surgical bookings will be based on clinical priority, ensuring our Level 3 guidelines are followed.
- If you had a surgical procedure booked, this may need to be postponed to a later date to allow more urgent cases to be undertaken.
- Your surgeon’s secretary will be in touch to discuss further. You are also welcome to contact them.
- Once a date for your surgery has been proposed, a nurse will call you to discuss pre-screening questions, and also ensure your ‘home bubble’ is well equipped to meet your needs following your surgery.
On arrival
- The front door will remain locked.
- You should remain in your vehicle until called for your appointment.
- Once called, please enter and stand behind the yellow/black line on the floor.
- Our concierge will ask you again if you are feeling well, and will record your details for contact tracing purposes.
- Everyone will be required to use hand sanitiser on arrival.
Visitors
- Patients will be allowed one visitor while they are in hospital. This person must be pre-screened and must be from the patient’s ‘home bubble’.
- Ideally the person approved to visit is also the person who will be dropping off and picking up the patient.
- Visiting will be limited to one hour per day.
