As anyone who has undergone any type of surgical procedure will know, often you don’t know what lies ahead of you, until you get there.
First time patients who are feeling curious about what they can expect when facing surgery at Churchill Hospital, may have some of their questions answered by way of a new video.
Released shortly before Christmas, the video highlights the patient journey within the private hospital, from consultation through to recovery.
The aim of this video project was to allay insecurities some patients may have when facing surgery by gently presenting a patient scenario, chronologically, inside the various departments of the hospital environment. It follows a young female patient’s journey from her initial meeting with her specialist, through admission, her journey to theatre and beyond. Various staff members care for her along the way and all have a role in ensuring that her experience is a positive one.
Specialist surgeon Mark Taylor shares a few words that give us some insight into what it means to work as a surgeon at Churchill. “The world class facilities here at Churchill, enable us as specialists, to provide outstanding care”.
Anna, a Registered Nurse, describes what she loves about her role. “I love making a difference in someone’s life, knowing that I’ve made their journey better”.
