Dr Hutchins originates from Te Anau, New Zealand. He first worked in Wairau Hospital as a Junior Doctor, and subsequently undertook training to become an Ophthalmologist at the Dunedin, Christchurch and Wellington public hospitals. He has undertaken sub-specialist training at Waikato Hospital and the Princess Alexander Hospital in Queensland, Australia in the areas of retinal, corneal, anterior segment and complex cataract surgery.
Edward’s particular area’s of interest include:
- General Ophthalmology services
- Cataracts and refractive surgery
- Management of retinal conditions including age related macular degeneration and diabetic retinopathy
- Glaucoma management and monitoring
- Management of corneal and ocular surface disease
- Management of eye lid conditions
