Michael is an Otago Medical School Graduate, and New Zealand trained Obstetrician and Gynaecologist, who has worked in a variety of locations throughout New Zealand and Australia – giving him a broad perspective and range of skills in the field of obstetrics and gynaecology.
Michael works as a generalist obstetrician and gynaecologist. He enjoys a wide range of surgery and has a special interest in minimal access surgery including laparoscopy and hysteroscopy.
His scope covers a broad range of conditions including:
- Pelvic pain including endometriosis
- Menstrual disorders and abnormal bleeding
- Smear abnormalities and colposcopy
- Prolapse
- Menopause
- Infertility investigation
- Contraception
- Laparoscopic, vaginal and open hysterectomy
- Management of fibroids, including surgical management
- Surgical management of ovarian cysts
- IUD removal and insertion
Michael hails from Timaru, though is currently working at Middlemore Hospital and brings his experience from this centre. Michael worked at Wairau Hospital during 2021 and is keen to establish his private practice here. His kind, affable nature is enjoyed by his patients, as well as the well-informed, balanced, and patient-centred care he provides.
Outside of work Michael enjoys exploring New Zealand with his wife, hiking, and spending time with family.
