Steve McHale studied medicine at the University of Southampton, graduating with honours in 2008. He subsequently completed an MSc in musculoskeletal sciences at the University of Oxford, graduating with distinction. Steve undertook higher surgical training in trauma and orthopaedic surgery in southwest England, passing the Fellowship of the Royal College of Surgeons exams in 2019. He has held consultant posts in Plymouth, UK and in Whakatane and Blenheim, New Zealand. His areas of specialisation include hip, knee and shoulder surgery.

Knee replacement and reconstructive surgery at the Nuffield Orthopaedic Centre in Oxford, UK.
Areas of Specialisation
- Hip surgery including primary and revision hip replacement.
- Knee surgery including total knee replacement and partial knee replacement, realignment procedures, and surgery for soft tissue disorders.
- Shoulder surgery including reverse shoulder replacement, anatomic shoulder replacement, and surgery for soft tissue disorders such as rotator cuff tears.
- General orthopaedic surgery including carpal tunnel decompression, Dupuytren’s, trigger finger release, surgery of the elbow, hand, wrist, foot and ankle, and benign soft tissue lesions such as lipoma.
